WHAT DO DERMAL AND LIP FILLERS TREAT?
Dermal and Lip filler injections can treat a variety of conditions or aesthetics. Dermal injections can be used in order to minimise the appearance of wrinkles in conjunction with anti-wrinkle treatment. It can also be used in replacing lost volume in the face, and to overcome the effects of gauntness of the face after for instance, weight loss. Lip balance, symmetry and fullness can be treated also by lip injections.
Dermal fillers are made from a gel of naturally occurring sugars that are present in the body.
The filler is injected into the skin with a fine needle and targeted at the areas in need of treatment. This creates additional body, fullness, shape and symmetry.
Fillers do have a finite life as the gel used gets absorbed by the body and breaks down. We generally advise that fillers can last between 6 and 12 months. Your body and face changes over time.
Generally, there is little downtime, although some bruising or swelling around the treated area can occur and last for up to a week. Dr Saliba and her team can advise of likely potential downtime that may affect your personal and social plans for instance.
Dermal fillers and Lip Injections are cosmetic procedures. They should only be performed by a doctor, or other highly qualified individual with certification in injectables and facial anatomy. There are various contraindications that must be identified before injection is undertaken. A thorough understanding of the facial muscle anatomy, complex vascular system, complications and how to manage such complications is mandatory for any injector. Not all areas of the face and not all people are good candidates for dermal or lip fillers. At Le Sands Clinic we pride ourselves on safe practice and excellent results.
